Alcohol and Smoke

Today I will be telling you about how alcohol and smokes can affect your bodybuilding, and other things about it that you may not know.

Alcohol:
Alcohol will decrease your muscle gains, first off, alcohol dehydrates your body. Which dehydrates your muscles making it harder for you to make gains. Second, alcohol decreases testosterone and increases estrogens. You seen those male heavy drinkers with man boobs? a.k.a bitch tits? Yeah that's what alcohol does to the man overtime. Third, alcohol will stop your body from absorption of some nutrients.
Alcohol is the last thing you want to drink if you're on the heavy side and you want to cut fat. Alcohol is empty calories and contain no nutrients. On top of that alcohol slows down metabolism, making it harder to lose fat.
If you take protein shakes, it will be hard on your liver but not dangerous if you drink enough water. Taking alcohol also takes a number on your liver, if you do both, you're sure to damage your liver badly.
Other than that, alcohol will make you lazier, if you get a hangover, it will take a week of good sleep before you're fully recovered to your 100% at the gym.

Smoking:
Smoking now is on a whole different level. Smoking decreases your lung capacity on holding oxygen, which means your performance in the gym will be shit. In the gym the last few reps is what really makes the difference, when you smoke, that is gone. Smoking also increases metabolism and makes you lose your appetite, if you can't put it together, it means you can't make good mass gains. Smoking will also ruin your muscle gains in general, because oxygen will have trouble being taken to all your muscles. Most importantly, smoking will damage your manhood. If you don't follow, I'll be straight forward. If you smoke enough, your manhood will go limp.
Now if you don't want to live longer, want to stay weak, small, no endurance, have no manhood, and be a bitch slave to cigarettes, then go ahead and smoke away. If you want to stay away from cigarettes, don't ever be peer pressured. Being peer pressured to drink or smoke is the dumbest excuse ever to start anything. If you give into peer pressure, you're admitting to the world, you're a bitch. If you smoke, you'll be the cigarette's bitch. You are the owner of your own life, something you claim and no one else. When you smoke, you're abusing your life and wasting it. Cut that shit out of your system, you're given one life, make it the best you fucking can. You're worth so much, but you cover it up when you smoke and make yourself feel like shit. You know what people think of you when you give in to peer pressure? You're pathetic, weak and your will is shit. Smoking will make you weak, your endurance will be nothing, and your muscles will be close to bullshit. What's to gain from smoking? There is no reason to smoke, there is nothing cool about being a weak bitch and having a limp manhood.

You only have one life, don't waste it by smoking and drinking your life away. Don't waste it.

Motivation and how often should you go

Weightlifting:
How often you go to the gym all depends on your routine. If you're just starting out, most work out routines for beginners usually consists of a 3 day split. Or if you only have 3 days to work out, and can spare 1.5-2 hours for those 3 days. The best time for a 3 day work out usually is Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Obviously it is not mandatory for it to be those days, but it's an easy routine to remember if it was Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I did a Mon,Wed, and Fri work out for about 4-6 months before I changed anything up.
If you want a more challenging work out, and you only have like an hour to do work outs a day, you can split the workouts more and can do more for each body group. You can add more days and do a 5 day split or a 6 day split. For a year and bit I did a 5 day split, Monday-Friday, then recently I added in an extra day doing a 6 day split Monday-Saturday. Although you don't necessary have to do a 5-6day split to get bigger when you're more experienced, it could be better but not necessary.5-6 day split is good, but 3 day split is also fine if you only have that much time in a week.
Cardio:
For cardio, you want to do it every day or every two days if your goal is to drop body fat %. The more intense your cardio work outs are and how consistent it is will affect how fast your body fat % will drop. One thing to keep in mind is to always do cardio after weightlifting. Weightlifting won't affect your cardio performance but your cardio performance will affect weightlifting, so do your cardio after weightlifting is the best. If you run like 30-45 minutes before weight training, you're going to be tired overall, and it will affect how well you do when you lift weights. If you weight lift first then do 30-45 cardio after, you'll be tired in the muscle group you did but you will still get you're cardio done well.
Motivation:
Many people have different goals in the gym. Some want to have better endurance for a sport they play or just for their own good health, some want to cut down on their fat, some want to bulk and gain mass, and some just want to keep fit and have some muscles. Best way to always keep motivated in the gym, is to know what exactly are you looking for from the gym. I started because I had to get bigger for football, in mass and strength. I dedicated a whole year to getting bigger for football, and I did. Every day in the gym, all I thought about was how there were so much more bigger and stronger people on the field, and I trained hoping to be the one where people would not want to go against. But sadly football was cancelled, but I still kept working out. I had a new goal then, to be the best I can and pushing my limits to see just how far I can go. Every time I feel lazy or unmotivated, I just ask myself, "How badly do I want it" I feel as if, if I don't make myself the best I can be, I'm wasting time. When people stay at home resting from nothing, I'm out there making myself the best I can be, I feel as if I abuse my life if I waste it by being lazy all day. I enjoy pushing myself until I can't anymore, many people quit because it gets too hard and they want to give up. I hate that, I feel better when I know I push past my limits and improve myself constantly.
Don't think people will judge you if you're overweight and you're in the gym. The fact you're trying to make a change to yourself is a big step already that many are afraid to take. But that's just the first step, what's important is that you stay on track and you don't give up. Many people won't see results first week and it's hard, but you have to push through it, you can't give up like the hordes of useless people who do. You must push through it as if your life depends on it, it's like building a house, and every training session is putting another brick on the wall. You won't reach your goals from complaining and whining. You won't reach your goals from blaming problems on people, you are what you make yourself to be.
Your results are based on how hard you train.

Supplements, stores and all products

Hello everyone, today I'll be talking about Supplements, stores, and all products that people try to sell you.

Supplements

First off to answer a big question I always get asked, you never have to buy any products or supplements to work out. It is not required, many people work out without any whey protein powder, glutamine powder, creatine and/or pills.

Personally I've used protein powder ( GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein, GNC Pro Performance Mass XXX Weight Gainer, Gaspari Nutrition Myofusion, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey) and I've used pre-work out supplements (Super Pump 250 by Gaspari Nutrition) Out of all of them, I would only recommend the Gold Standard 100% whey by Optimum Nutrition, on top of being the top selling protein all over the place and being rated one of the highest protein powders out there, it is also very reasonably priced compared to the other protein powders you've encountered. The protein mixes easily with water or milk, and tastes great. Out of all protein shakes I've had, this taste the best. But again keep in mind that drinking protein will not make you big and strong, you still have to work your ass off in the gym. Protein shakes just help you give you the nutrition that you may not be able to eat all at once in meals throughout the day. You still need to work hard in the gym, keep hydrated throughout the day(protein shakes make you dehydrated and could hurt your body if you don't intake enough water) and still eat right.

Now about pre work out shakes, I don't know if they worked for your friend or people you know, but personally I find it as a waste of money and time. I've taken super pump for about a month, it just made me sick. It didn't make me work harder nor did I get better results. So out of almost two years, I've only taken pre work out for a month, I never took it again. Though different pre work outs  work differently, I know people that responded well to N.O Explode(another pre work out) but had no effect when drinking Super Pump, so if you really are wanting to take it (Personally I just wouldn't bother but it's your choice if you really want to or not) don't be disappointed if you got no effect, it happens. Though trying other pre work outs may help if the one you take doesn't.

Let me right now save you hundreds of dollars, don't buy any pills from any store like GNC or online from some random company you never heard of. They cost a shit amount of money, and they don't do anything for you. If they don't work, and you complain, they will say it says on the bottle it recommends you also work hard in the gym and eat properly for the pill to work best. In that case, you might as well save yourself money and just work hard and eat right in the first place. There is no magic pill out there that will make you strong or big or faster, only you and your hard work will work. You see these all the time on the internet how they took this pill and they turned from a fat guy or a scrawny guy into a ripped freak. That's all bullshit, it's just them trying to get you money, the only pills worth taking ever are vitamin pills only because they give you nutrition but it's not a substitution to a healthy meal.

What it comes down to, nothing will make you stronger, faster, bigger, slimmer, leaner,  or better in whatever your goal is other than your own hard work, through determination and motivation in the gym or fields, and a right healthy meal plan. All supplements will only help enhance, but is definitely not required. Though don't bother with any pills (other than Vitamin pills those are fine). The only supplement that would be worth buying are whey protein and vitamin pills.

Gym equipment

There are many gears you may see people bring into the gym if you've gone once or twice, these are belts, water bottles, gloves, wraps, and gym chalk.

Belts are for lifting heavy when doing squats to keep your back supported through abdominal pressure. This is not too important for beginners or those who just want to be built since you have to go pretty heavy before you need a belt, even I don't need one yet. These are for more advanced bodybuilders.

Gloves are for grip, because when your hands get sweaty, your grip strength would weaken making it a problem to lift heavier. It's an alternative to gym chalk, for any reason you can't use gym chalk, gym gloves are a good alternative, on top of better grip, it will prevent calluses.

Wraps are to help support your wrists to lift heavier, though I wouldn't worry about that when you're a beginner.

Gym chalk is a powder you apply on your hands to keep your hands dry for better grip. It is one of the best equipments you could buy, it works well if grip is a problem you have. Again it is only needed if grip is holding you back from gaining results.

In reality, you probably don't need any of these equipments. Gloves are a good investment if you don't want calluses and need better grip. But just remember you never have to buy these things, especially when you're a beginner. Bring or buy a water bottle, keep yourself hydrated at all times, you are much stronger and funtioning better when hydrated I can't stress that point enough.

Stores

There are many stores probably in your area where you can buy all the things I've talked about, such as Pop eyes and GNC. Don't buy from these stores, Pop eyes is cheaper than GNC but they're both way over priced. The Gold card in GNC gives a discount, but it's still way more pricey than ordering it online at bodybuilding.com. I don't work there nor do I care about them gaining money, but they really do give great deals, ever since I've found that site's store, I only buy from them. Don't be ripped off from all these stores that sell way too overpriced, take a look at bodybuilding.com Even with shipping and handling fees, it's still cheaper most the time, though I buy by bulk.

Introduction Part Two

My name is Herrick, 17 years old. I have worked out for 3 years, with some long breaks due to school. The reason why I love working out is that it makes me sweat, and I love to stay fit. I gained  30 pounds since I started, and I’m slowly rising up. The weights I use may not be as impressive as my friend Wilson’s, but I know how much my body can handle, and push it to the very limit. Over that period, not only have I gained strength, I also learned many things while working out, and I would hope to share them with you guys. One important tip I can give to the newbies is that when you first start out, you may feel small and weak in the gym, but keep this in mind: everyone is in the gym for their own goals, they will not judge you on how big and powerful you are, just do what you want to do J

Introduction Part 1

Hello everyone! I'm sorry for the long wait but things been busy. My name is Wilson, I'm 17 years old, been working out since Dec 2009, so it's almost been 2 years since I've started. I've gained from 180lbs to 230lbs. I've started at benching 10 reps of 90lbs to 205 lbs. Squatting starting at 135lbs to 295lbs. Leg pressing 400lbs to 1050lbs. Dumbbell pressing 20's to 100's. The most important thing for you to know when you start working out, is to never slack, never stop. The day you slack and take a day off, that's when your friends get big, and you don't. Don't ask guys how they do it, when you aren't in the gym working almost every day, that's how they do it, when you aren't there. In the almost 2 years I've started, I've took only one break week, which was just last week (Aug 2011) due to a family trip to a place with no gym... But a week break every ONCE in a while is fine, but more of that later. Many people ask me what supplements I take. I will explain thoroughly on supplements later on what is what. But to answer, I take Gold Standard 100% Whey by Optimum Nutrition.

Soon we will post more on topics people always wonder about such as:

Nutrition

Supplements, stores, and all products

Routines

Compound Exercises and Isolation Exercises
